    If you use the Adobe Dynamic Link to bring a completed Premiere Pro sequence into After Effects just for using this distributed rendering solution, that should work yah? Even if you have proxy video attached to clips back in the Premiere Pro sequence... just as long as everything is stored on the same central, accessible drive... should work?

    • @DigiProTips
      @DigiProTips 12 дней назад

      You know what, never even thought about this. In theory, yes it would work but you would have to recompile the image sequence and add the audio back on after. I guess it depends how intense your Premiere timeline is as to whether it’s worth getting multiple PC’s to tackle the render. But then again if it’s that intensive in the first place then the dynamic link may be a bottleneck anyway. It doesn’t play well with really complex timelines in my experience.

    • @7fold_design
      @7fold_design 11 дней назад

      @@DigiProTips That's a good point. Distributed rendering is a new world for me in the Adobe suite but have been familiar with it using 3D rendering software like Vray. My initial tests using your recommended settings caused the render time to increase 4x so had to abandon it. Currently standing up a render tower and NAS so will try again once those are in place. Cheers.

    Why can't this be used for cold storage? Is it just the high price? Also, so all my freelance editors need to download the LucidLink application to download the footage? Can they even download the footage?

    • @DigiProTips
      @DigiProTips 14 дней назад

      It can be used for cold storage if you wanted to (if you choose to link it to your own provider then that may be a good route) but for most it’s a high price for data storage. Yes, the editors just need to install Lucidlink and be given access to the folders you want them to have access to. They don’t necessarily need to download anything as it streams data in real-time but if they needed to they can right click and ‘pin’ a file or folder to save it locally.

    It's good to see timecode being talked about...BUT #.1 always have a sound recordist on set if there is any type of dialogue to be recorded, it will allow you to focus on on other things & you will get a higher quality level of sound (it also shows your client that you are serious about providing the best production for them). #2 Plug in a TC to all the cameras and leave the connected until the end of the shoot that day, they are cheap enough nowadays. Even a £100K arri will drift, so don't take the chance.

For new users, the new pro version has both dc and usb-c charging options. I'm now going to purchase the RGB version. I have the zhiyun g60 and x100 too, but love these Ulanzi 40w for their simplicity and smaller overall form factor when out and about. The modifiers are also cool and the low price is a bonus.

    A question I'm struggling to get an answer is how does the transfer speed of a cloud sync NAS compares to the transfer speed of other cloud sync services like Dropbox? They're both over the wifi internet, and their transfer speed appears to be the same, because the max transfer speed of a NAS over wifi is never over 50 MB/second, which is about the same speed I sync from Dropbox. Thus, I'm not sure what's the speed advantage of sharing files remotely using a NAS versus a cloud service like Dropbox. Can you please shed some light on the speed advantage? Thanks.
